The Bak month's programme of the monthly meditation programme series of Anuradhapura Mahaviharaya was conducted whole day on the 10 of April under the shade of Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. Under the advice and guidance of Most Ven. Dr. Pallegama Siriniwasa Atamasthanadhipathi Nayaka Thero, veteran teacher of meditation Ven. Ranpathwila Wimalarathana (MA) Nayaka Thero conducted the meditation programme. Not less than 500 devotees from various parts of the island participated in this.

Started with observing the eight precepts at 6.00 am, the meditation programme ended at 6.00 pm with the completion of the precepts. During this period, what is meditation and how to meditate were explained systematically and the methods of developing meditation was practiced. It was special that instructions were given to the individuals according to their nature. Devotees were directed to various methods of meditation and the opportunity was given to discuss the personal experiences and problems with the teacher and solve them.

Many devotees happily remarked that, they were able to gradually reduce the stress and the mental unrest experienced in their private lives and achieve consolation and lightness. Ven. Wimalarathana Nayaka Thero explained that, we should develop meditation to achieve the wisdom required to reach our final target of Nirvana as Buddhists.
